If you're going to the trouble to open the tank, I'd replace the fuel pump no matter what. You already said it was whining. Usually not a good sign

How old is your battery. I know in my parents 2007 Expedition, the battery was bad after 3 years and it started having all kinds of issues (trans. shifts, traction control, abs, hard starting)

Dealer said nothing was wrong because there were no codes. Finally the battery died in the mall parking lot.

New battery and never had issues it was having before.

Same thing happened with their 2006 Honda Accord. Transmission was acting weird and after my Dad replaced the battery all the issues went away.

Might be a good idea to just replace the battery if its over 2 years old and see if that helps.

Took my truck to the stealership this morning because I have a broken hand and didn't want to mess with having to change the fuel pump. They just got it all checked out and told me it is definitely the fuel pump and they want $1100 to change it. **** A LOT OF THAT. They went on to say my ball joints are bad because I had them check those too and it'd be $1400 to change both uppers and lowers. Its highway freakin robbery. Looks like I will be enlisting someone to help me change it out.

I am trying to figure out which pump to buy but with all the different engine codes I get confused. Anybody able to tell me which one I need? VIN is 2GTEK133971658538

I had a little mom and pop tire shop quote me $600 to replace my upper a-arms. Is this something that a normal person with most common tools can do themselves?

Replace the a-arm or just the ball joint? Includes an alignment?

Replacing a ball joint can be done without a press, but its a PITA. Usually you can rent or borrow those from the auto parts store.

I meant the lowers because they had to replace the entire arm. Upper balls need replaced too while I'm in there though

Did not include alignment in that price.

EDIT: I'm dumb...its the lower balls that can be replaced but the entire upper arms

Like Brian said, if you lived closer you could bring it over, put it on my lift and we could knock out the ball joints no problem.

I'm changing out all four disc brake pads and rotors on a friends Crown Vic tomorrow. He doesn't have anyplace where he lives to work on it. So he is coming down tomorrow morning and well put it on the lift change them out.

Not to high jack this thread but how hard is it to change out the fuel pump on a 2002 Silverado extended cab? I think mine is going bad, it has a hard time starting first try when it is warmed up. If I go to start it cranks and cranks. But if I stop and start again it fires right up. So instead of running my starter, I usually just turn the key and then release and turn it again and it fires right up. I just turned 136k. I take it, I have to pull the bed off to get to the fuel pump, correct?
