It's clearly one of the dumbest mods ever. That RWD V8 conversion kit developed by Ford Racing to the Focus was smarter. Actually, the Escort had some sporty RWD longitudinally-engined versions in the European market even for this generation (and the subsequent got longitudinal engine in the Cosworth). Would be smarter to throw a Subaru AWD driveline
