I actually AM too lazy to Choose a Custom Title
We plowed for many years using an 8' plow on an F350 dump -2wd (might even have had an open diff) a 351C and manual tranny with a 1/2 ton or so of sand/salt mix dumped in the bed, or later in a sander. It can be done, but now we've upgraded to a 4wd truck and a 10' plow. The new Ford is an absolute Monster. we got about 3 feet in one storm last year, that thing pushed like mad.
The other trucks we have are an '08 Silverado 3/4 ton, not nearly as good due to it's much lighter weight. It came with an 8' Fischer plow mounted, never heard of trouble getting plows for Chevy's and my little toy- a Jeep Wrangler with a 6'. Coming for this winter is a massive snowblower for our Kubota tractor, there may be a fistfight over who gets to play with that one
If you've got a truck that you think will push snow, you may as well get the plow and give it a try. You can always move it to another truck if it doesn't work so well.
