Mike, hows it going man?

So after reading through this thread I am surprised that you are able to land a Duramax for just under 40k. That's a really good price. Is that a 4 wheel drive truck? I was assuming that it was being a z71 package.

Have you taken the time to drive a 2500HD, yet? I think that they drive incredibly well considering that they can work with such a high payload capacity and towing.

I would steer away from the 3500 because you can pull almost anything with a 2500hd truck. Unless you would save some money with a 3500 I see no reason to get a truck that ride rougher than a 2500.

Though I am used to my 3500's, ours drives pretty good for it being a dump truck.

Brian, Z71 is available on 2WDs these days. It's been that way for at least a couple of years, I think. It's odd.

Yeah you're right! It's nothing more than the way the suspension is set up these days. I don't like it.

Hey Brian, having a bit of fun on the computer tonight.

Yeah, the truck would be a 2WD truck with the Z71 appearance package only. GM stopped the true Z71s for the 2007 model year (dumb). I dont need 4WD and that is what is making this search somewhat difficult. 95% of all Duramax equipped HDs are 4WD.

I was a bit surprised that I was even offered a Duramax equipped truck for under 40K...that is what started this snowball :).

I personally would suggest getting a 4wd truck being that it's a lot heavier than the half ton truck. A half ton truck will go a lot places that a 2500 truck will not in 2wd.

Yes, a 4WD will cost you but if you were ever in a position to sell the truck years down the road, it will be easier to sell. It will also sell for a lot more too!

But that's just me. ha ha. I did buy a 2wd dump truck but it's almost 4wd, in the rear. haha
