If GM is going for hauling capacity then naturally ride quality is not top priority.

I drove one of our 3500 trucks to our shop from the dealership without the bed on and wow! You could feel every bump in the road. I would go drive them and see what you think.

Sent from my DROID RAZR

I've done that a few times. I could never resist the urge to light the tires up before getting our heavy ass beds put on.

I fully understand the desire for an HD. I'm with the Matt's on this one. Definitely, 2500. I would not consider a 3500 unless it had a load on it all the time.

Have you considered a 2014 1500?

Not trying to talk you out of a 2500, but with increased capacities and available 6.5 bed, I thought it might be a good option.

Hey Robert, yep. I was at Henna yesterday and they want $48K for the 1500 with all the options that I want (6.5 bed as well). The 2500s that I took photos of were both at 36,900 before the $3000 loyalty discount. The reason I have not pulled the trigger just yet is those two 2500s were 6.0s and not the duramax.

Sales guy is willing to sell me one (duramax equipped) for $39 after all discounts are applied so by comparison, I would save 9K to start and have a more capable truck. The problem is that they cannot find one with the exact options that I want (as noted in the original post) yet. It was suggested that I should just order one and I may go that route eventually.

Bank and dealership both know that I am in no rush to sign anything. Heck, I may just do what I did with Sally...find a WT or LT truck with the basics, buy it and then start building it up....

Mike, hows it going man?

So after reading through this thread I am surprised that you are able to land a Duramax for just under 40k. That's a really good price. Is that a 4 wheel drive truck? I was assuming that it was being a z71 package.

Have you taken the time to drive a 2500HD, yet? I think that they drive incredibly well considering that they can work with such a high payload capacity and towing.

I would steer away from the 3500 because you can pull almost anything with a 2500hd truck. Unless you would save some money with a 3500 I see no reason to get a truck that ride rougher than a 2500.

Though I am used to my 3500's, ours drives pretty good for it being a dump truck.

Brian, Z71 is available on 2WDs these days. It's been that way for at least a couple of years, I think. It's odd.

Yeah you're right! It's nothing more than the way the suspension is set up these days. I don't like it.
