Sucks about the title. We can sometimes get away with getting it turned over with only the buyer being present as long as it is signed and notarized.

I did try that. One of the guys on my deer hunting lease is a Notary. I asked him to do it, and while he didnt flat out say no, he did say that she really needs to be present and he would not feel comfortable doing it unless she was present or if we had a copy of her license. I flat out called my SIL and asked her to fax a copy of it and she hesitated and said she had to wait till she got off work. But then she didnt answer any more calls after that. Thats when I went to the DMV to see if there was anything else I could do, and they told me that the title not only has to be notarized, but she needs to sign the Act of donation form and notarize that as well since the truck was free and there was no bill of sale.
So unless I get this thing in my name, I'm not doing anything else to it. Worse case scenario is I will have to junk it, which my wife keeps pressing me to do mainly because she is tired of looking at the damn truck sitting there.

Ok, with it not being in your name..... Can your brother and SIL come back on you in some way, legally, if you junk it?

Nope. If they do, I will blow their house up. :ninja:
