When I have all my ducks in a row I will post a complete request for advice/opinions on my SAS, but for now I have a question that presented itself while researching for info and parts etc.

I plan on lifting my '02 Silvy to a finished height of 14". On the front I have a Warn Trans4mer brush/bumper guard. I will be adding a warn winch and a custom bumper. On the rear a custom bumper.

Both bumpers will most likely be made out of diamond plate. The front will take the place of both the factory bumper and valence trim.(Hence being taller and being within the Fl bumper height requirements. Not that it's pertinent to this question, but my headlights should be legal height too :D) the rear taller to accomplish the same.

How much should added weight be considered in my "equation".

For example should my front springs and hanger be 16" total and rear 15" to finish at an aproximate 14" for both or 15" and 14"(respectively).:dunno:

I'm thinking the winch and front bumper combined would be aproximate 200(ish) lbs and rear bumper maybe 50-80 lbs.

I REALLY don't know if this is a dumbass question or if the added weight really is that much of a factor. :dunno:

Thanks in advance.

I don't think the SAS is going to make your springs sink

It depends on the bumper... The nice thing about SAS is it's easy to make adjustments.

I think an SAS conversion is the best idea you have come up with for the truck. Pretty badass if you end up doing it.

I also don't think you need to worry about a little added bumper weight.

Thats seems to be a nice kit.

Yeah seeing it first hand convinces me I like the looks better then some if seen.

I've basically been wanting a SAS since I got the truck and talking/hearing from others about it. Just trying to save the $$ and find the best suitable sources with the least amont of mark up. Right now finding and then getting a good deal on the axel I want is my first step.

I was thinking I was putting to much emphases on the extra weight, but I didn't want to rule it out and learn first hand I was wrong.:(

You'd really have to add a lot of new weight to have to worry about it. The new front axle is going to be able to handle a lot.

What kind of axle are you wanting to go with?

I was worried about the stance of it more so then any axel. i.e. I go with 14" hanger/spring combos and then the front flexes down to 13" with the extra 200(ish) lbs. I wasn't sure if new springs would give like that or not. If it did no one but me might notice an inch, but things like that eat at me sometimes.
:rolleyes::lol:

Well I've been going back and forth.

With the Chevy Dana 44 I would have to do one set of mods but with the Ford King Pin Dana 60 another. The Dana 44 should be from a K5 Blazer and the Dana 60 out of a 78-79 F-350. If my research is correct.:dunno:

I wont be doing any rockcrawling or EXTREME off roading, but with the Dana 60 it will be stouter regardless and I want to say my "pinion angles"(drive shaft from differential to transfer case?) would be better.

The Chevy is $100-$150 and Ford $400-$450 (from what some of the local lifted truck guys have been telling me.)
