it probably is stronger than the BBQ paint though. wouldnt mind doing it to my exhuast or just cleaning mine and run a chrome tip like yours. what is your tip setup again? trying to find a 3 into 4 adapter and have it put into a 4 into 6 tip.

I would hope/think so. I mean the guy at Hypercoat said it is durable, but it's also not bullet-proof. I'll wrap it in paper or blue painting tape when I install it so to avoid any bangs/scratches when I bolt it back up.
As far as the tip, it's stepped 3 into 4 into 5 lol. I had to sacrifice a nice new s/s Vibrant tip to cut up and use as a 3" into 4" coupler which I then had welded to the 4" outlet 5" slashcut tip.
I would run a s/s tip, not a chrome tip, they tend to look sh*tty in no time.

So I've been thinking about and researching what I could put on the polished skidplate to protect it, looking up all types of sprays, pastes, waxes.... then it hit me.
3M film pritectant would be the BEST protectant since it would protect the polished surface against scratches and rock damage. Being it's on the front of the truck I see it being bombarded with all types of road debris (once I actually start driving it again that is

I looked up info and found out it has ben used on other various surfaces other than autopaint, including polished s/s.
It shouldn't affect the look of the polish and being the plate is flat it would be super easy to apply. Should last a while too, the other stuff would just keep the s/s shiny, but would do nothing to protect it against rocks and surface damage.

Just painted surfaces. It is all over my truck, including my now painted front bumper. I had it all over my '07 as well.
I have never used it on unpainted surfaces, I never had a reason to.
