I always use some type of barrier glove when using hard chemicals. I guess the whole MSDS stuff and OcHealth was just ingrained in me. Normal greases, petrol, diesel, and oils that we may run across fixing our trucks may not call for too much protection. But any substance can be caustic. Might as well be safe. One of the chemicals we work with is a Mil-Sec PD-680 dry cleaning solvent. It will eat thru just about any glove. And after working with it for a few minutes, you can taste the stuff. Not good at all. Protect, cover, double wrap. :p

Sounds like some of the girls I knew in college......

I work with weathered gasoline, heating oil, and pcbs everyday. They don't seem bad, and occasionally I get sick of wearing gloves, but I know in the long run all of the carcinogens could catch up.. Soo I wear nitriles pretty much all the time.. Even though my hands are big and I hate gloves

I have already seen some guys using AvGas that still contains lead to clean their hands in an aircrafts shop some years ago. As far as carcinogens go there was even one guy who did that cigarette turnoff trick with AvGas...
