Throw it back together and crank her up then. If there's any slack in the distributor I think it has bushings that can be replaced.

That is kind of what I was thinking as well. This "should" be the final step in getting thos old tractor back to work.

Funny how throwing a bunch of parts at something fixes it. Well, sort of. I now have spark but the damn thing still will not start. I think it is a carb issue. I took it apart twice and blew it out, but still nothing. I used the one from my 9N because it was working fine. The one I rebuilt needed adjusting so I figured swapping for nwo would at least get it going. I do not currently have access to my 9N, so I will have to figure out how to repair this one. Here we go again.

I am in disbelief over this. Never have I had a vehicle give me so much crap. This was suppose to be a simple project.

Check this page out for carburetor help. Lots of info here.

Ford 8N Tractor Carb Adjustments

My tractor started out the same way. it was running when my dad parked it but it sat for several years. Supposedly all it needed was a battery. After replacing the carb, battery, starter, electronic ignition, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, solenoid, coil, and overhauling the bottom end I have a reliable tractor that starts like a champ and runs great. The problem I'm running into now are leaks. Since I'm using it more I'm starting to get a few seeps here and there. First it was the pto output gasket, after fixing that I started to get a leak from my hydraulics. It's never ending.
