We have a clear that we use at work with the same kit (commercial version). I don't think it is a very good product, it is hard to apply without streaking, it does look really good but it gets looking crappy after a while. I think an automotive clear would definately be the way to do it. Most of the time we leave the clear off, and while they don't last forever, but they do last a very long time (2+ years).

Thats a hell of a lot better than the shit I used. I`m going to try the clear coat to see if mine get any better, they just turned out 100 times worse, all cloudy.

Thanks guys  I'll be doing this on our other vehicles to get real good with it then I'll see if I can't get some new clients. I see a TON of vehicles with bad headlights and it drives me crazy

It's not heaven . . . it's Iowa!
Nice!

My sister drives a Merc Mystique and her lights were really bad. They were getting a windshield chip fixed and the guy cleared the lights while he was waiting for the patch to dry. Just bored, I guess.

Looks good man. Like the others mentioned, get good at it and sell the hell out of it. The going rate is right around $60 for a pair that should take 1- 1 1/2 hrs.

Looks good, but you ave to clear them or they will re yellow and it will worse since you have sanded the factory UV clear coat off. I do the same basic thing but if you detail get sand paper in bulk. 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000. Not all cars will need every grit, but better to have when needed. Get some UV stable clear, SEM makes a good one but you'll need a UV light to cure. Problem with using auto clear is that it's not meant to bond to polycarbonate with out adhesion promoter. It will flake or crack and then you'll get phone calls from pissed off customers. The SEM product needs a tooth to bite on so you don't polish but rather leave at 3000 grit sand and the clear fills in the small scratches much like automotive paint does.

Looks good Nice job:thumbs:

I've had good results just using a Plastic Polish, like Maguires or Mothers on the son's former celica (god rest its soul)..I applied it with my drill and the foam pad on hi speed. It left a very smooth finish.:dunno:
