I just bought some, it will be here next week. It gets freakin hot in the car in Lawton.

I will be the test mule...and after I read :zembonez: post, I feel like this was a bad idea...:suicide:

I'm only out 26 bucks if it doesn't work.
Side windows are not terribly hard to do. Any curved back glasses require shrinking the film which is best left to a pro.

It's not impossible, but a few rules apply.

  • Do it indoors if at all possible (out of any wind)
  • Clean the hell out of the glass (use a razor blade to remove any dirt or spots)
  • Clean the class again.
  • Use lint free paper towels or you will have a million tiny hairs under the tint.
  • Take your time.
  • Keep the window and the film soaked with your solution at all times.
  • Position the tint where you want it and squeegee from the center or top down depending on the glass.
  • Realize that it may never be perfect.

Thanks for the tips Jim!

Do the pre cut kits come with the solution and squeegee?

I don't know.

You'll need a couple of straightedge razors to do minor trimming and clean the glass too. Most tinters I know use a solution of a few drops of Dawn dishwashing detergent in a spray bottle filled with water as a solution. Some tint companies offer special mixes, but every tinter I've been around uses the dish soap. You can pick up a rubber squeegee at most auto parts stores. Get one that is stiff and comes to a good sharp edge.

My truck. It has 70% vis on the front two windows and 20% on the back. I may not do the back but I will have to see what it looks like.

Anyone have any experience with purchasing these? I've been wanting to tint my windows, but dont feel like shelling out $100+ to have a shop do it. And found a few eBay stores with the kits. Are they pretty spot on for window size?
How much tinting have you done? It's pretty much like herding stray cats on meth during a sandstorm while drunk.

:rollin: What a pain in the ass that must be:lol:

Who's on meth and drunk, me or the cats....or both. It could be fun.:dunno:

I never tried pre-cut tint, but started with a roll and attempted to do it my self. Tinting windows is one thing I leave to the vatos at the tint shop.
