Which is power steering hose is near front and has a upside down U on a 97 K1500 350 vortec? There's a shorter hose behind it. Return or pressure hose? Mine is leaking and stop leak isnt curing the problem.

You know, Dave, you should invest in a repair manual for a 97 K1500 350 vortec.

Actually, you should invest in MANY repair manuals. Get one for each of your projects. It sure would save you a lot of time waiting around for answers and would allow you more time to actually fix some of the shit laying around your yard, or your mom's yard, or wherever you have this stuff stored.

+1

From your schooling you should be ale to make an educated guess as to which hose is which. Pressure hoses should have crimped fittings (high pressure). Return hoses generally have screw clamp fittings (low pressure). That's the quick answer

Dave the hose that has a hose clamp holding it on is the return, usually the upper hose on the reservoir. The high pressure hose will have crimped connectors on both ends of the hose where the hard lines attach.

The upside down U (can't believe I used that descriptor) should be the pressure hose, and as mentioned have crimped ends.

Fix the problem, and flush out all of that damn stop-leak. You shouldn't have tried that in the first place.

Put in fresh fluid, and flush the system. Next will be a leaking pump seal.

A note on stop-leak, Dave. It was never intended to deal with pressure leaks, especially blown lines...it contains no magic.

It is used with marginal success in softening old dry, worn seals, and swell them to the point they do not leak as much. Shaft seals do not have any significant pressure applied to them.

I know what the bottle says, but this is the dirty truth.

A hose leak must be dealt with mechanically.

The manuals he is suggesting are not FREE. You must purchase them.

Like this here: this CLEARLY states that this line is for the pressure side, and that would have answered your question
