What did you hook the USB connection to for power? The 120V you are getting out of the power inverter?

Yes sir it would be like connecting the adapter directly to the power inverter just that now the connection is internally, so to speak.

Cool idea. Why not buy one of the USB connectors that come that you plug into the cigarette outlet, take it outta the casing and hook it up to the 12v so its on all the time instead of having to fire up the inverter? Am I not thinking of something with this setup or do you think that would work? If I'm not mistaken a USB is only 5v so that should work right?

Yeah, that is the easiest way of a having a USB connection but I love to complicate my life and prefer to have the device permanently installed.

I was still thinking permanent install like you have, but instead of stepping from 120v AC to 5v DC which is what you are doing, using the internals of a cig lighter adapter it would just be stepping from 12v DC to 5v DC. Still would look the same as what you did. I like how yours turned out.

^^^^ Oh yeah, sure you can do that too. I was contemplating doing it that way in the beginning but since I was going to install the AC out put I figured I'll connect the USB to the inverter instead.
