Did you guys see the last crash at the finish line?
I watched it on the nascar website.

HOOOOOLY SHIT! I hadn't seen that.

I'm glad he and everyone else on the track was alright. I haven't read anything yet. Was anyone in the stands injured?

The news was saying about 14 people. Most refused treatment. I think 4 were treated at the track and released and one taken to the hospital with non critical injuries. And that is why my score went down....

From a fan's perspective. I'm at a loss for words..

Looks like 5 fans were treated and release. Others declined treatment. Someone was looking out for all involved. :halo:

That was a new and redesigned catch fence. If it was double there probably wouldn't have been as much debris making it through.

I was just thinking that. If they aren't going to redesign the track to be a different type of racing or fix the racing so it's not all bunched-up, causing incidents like this, they need a secondary catch fence to catch what the first one doesn't.. catch. :uhoh:

They examined all of the 14 for concussion symptoms, but it turns out they were just NASCAR fans. :jester:

Something has to work. As for the racing, why not star the slower cars in the front. They do that at a lot of local tracks.

I think they need to do something to break up the packs. Make it so they HAVE to lift in the corners and give 'em some throttle response.

Spreading the cars out should greatly reduce the chances of something like this happening in the future, at least on such a regular basis. :dunno:

That would mean no restrictor plates.

If restrictor plates mean killing drivers and fans, get rid of 'em! If NASCAR's engineers aren't smart enough to figure this crap out, fire the lot of 'em and get some new blood in there who think differently. Actually, that goes for the engineers AND the guys running things!
