So my friend has a 2003 Land Rover Discovery 2. He bought it 4 years ago, drove it from Dallas to Odessa no issues, then shortly after he got here it started overheating whenever he would drive it. Fast forward.

He has replaced the water pump, thermostat, all the hoses, flushed the radiator, new fan. Still overheats. He told me I could have it, but I don't want to sink a bunch of money into it and still have issues with it overheating.

There is no white smoke, can't smell it in the exhaust, no leaks, the hoses pressure up, no coolant in the oil, but still overheats (I haven't seen it running, so all second hand info).

Any ideas? I'm thinking about calling around to auto shops here and getting an opinion or 2, but I thought I would see what yall had to say.

Still could be possible head gasket

It's for sure overheating, not just going by the gauge?

DO NOT DO THIS.

If you EVER listen to anything I tell you... run away screaming like a girl from this huge British money pit.

You will thank me many times.

I'm with Jim on this one. Run. You'll more than make up its free to obtain with keeping it running in very short period of time.

I couldn't agree more. Assuming you get the overheating issue fixed, there will be a host of other problems that will pop up.

I love Land Rovers. But I would only own one if it was under the factory warranty and if there was a dealer within 10 miles of me.

I have considered buying one for Lauren twice. Then I start looking at reviews and reliability reports and I quickly come to my senses.

I'd drive a Defender! But that's a completely different deal.
