It is a cool strap wrench, It doesn't show it well but you put the strap around the filter, and the end of the square stock in a half inch ratchet and walla! off comes the filter. Here is another picture of it.

I just use one of these.

That is what Scotty was bitching about, the AMSOIL filters do not have the pleats in them for that. I for one don't understand why they don't put them in or put on a grip coating. It has been brought to their attention many times.

Plain old filter wrench for me.

Yeah, I have one of these. But it does NOT work on the Amsoil filters. The filter is completely smooth and round to the very end. I can usually get it off with a rag and a firm grip though. I have had to use a pair of these big ass channel locks before to get one off.

I`ve got that exact wench! And I had to use it to get the Original filter off my truck! spun it three times before I could take it of by hand!!
