Yes, it just happened suddenly. I just changed my oil 3k miles ago and there was no sign of any leak, or even any sign of seepage. And I checked my dipstick every 1k miles and the level was full last time I checked it 1k miles ago (which was 2k miles on the oil and filter).

Spray the whole area down with brake cleaner and get all of the oil off then fire it up and see what you get.

I was kinda thinking the same thing. But that will have to wait till my next day off.

And I guess I need to order some more Amsoil. I just poured my last quart in my truck today.

One more thing. Why the hell did Amsoil not put any type of gripping on their Ea filters? That perfectly smooth filter pisses me off when I go to remove it.

There is also a port above the oil filter that has two bolts holding what looks like it might have been a dipstick port or something. Check to make sure those bolts are tight. You can even take it off and make sure the gasket on that is good. That is where some tap into to hook up an oil pressure gauge or to use for a by-pass filter supply.

I wouldn't thing the oil pan would be an issue, never heard of them. I have heard that the rear main can go bad but not common either.

Use a wrench.

On a serious note, your oil change comment made me recall a time where I had a similar problem on my '91. Come to find out, when I removed the previous oil filter, a little bit of it remained stuck to the base and when I ran the filter down on top of it, it left a small gap and that's where it was coming from.

I hear you Scotty, it has been brought up by many to AMSOIL Corp. Why they don't do it is beyond me. :fume:

Or at least some indentations around the top so I can fit a cap wrench on it. :dunno:
I don't even own one of those strap style filter wrenches, and it seems that or some big channel lock pliers is the only way to get it off.

That's why you need to wipe that bitch off with a lint free shop rag before installing the new filter.
