My mom's '10 G6 is doing the same thing. We took it in a week or two ago and they replaced the actuator, but I drove it today and it will go from blazing hot to cold without any warning. Then it'll sometimes stay on cold or go back to hot. It's still under warranty for another 16k so I'll be taking it back in again.

They stay on cold so much in this part of the country, it probably was just needing some action!

Yep. I think that's the case with mine. I have found that if I turn it all the way to hot that it sometimes gets stuck. But if I only turn it 90% of the way, the heat still blows hit, and the door doesn't get stuck. I have never had it stuck on hot as long as I only turn the dial 90%. That's why I never bothered to tear the dash out to replace it.
