the alternator pigtails cannot be bought except through a dealer. So says Autozone, Adv. Auto, CarQuest, and every little mom n poip store in a 20 mile radius. The dealers tell me that parts for a "non-Chrysler vehicle" cannot be bought at a Chrysler deal. Fawk you, non-Chrysler vehicle bullshit- i've bought WILLYS parts from them.

Junkyard, here i come. Also need a new alternator and praying to find a SOA D44 rear axle in there somewhere... dont care about gears matchin right now, i can worry about that later.

Not sure if you have a craigs list or not but all internationals 73' and up use 44's under the scouts, or you can look up www.binderplanet.com their should be alot of axles on that site. you will have to make it spring over but that is just some axle perches. i am not sure of how wide they will be on your jeep though.
hope this helped!

I'd go with the Ford 8.8. It's readily available and strong... plus it comes with disc brakes. It's also CHEAP in comparison to the Dana 44.

Sierra, it's a 1988, but the VIN reads 1990... :dunno:

might have been some shady shit with the old guy who owned it before the kid i bought it from, i guess he bought it off lease but when ChryCo bought out AMC they got rid of a lot of AMC's records, including the lease, ergo the VIN. so it's a 1988 chassis, with a 1990 VIN and 1988 Renix 4.0. Hate, hate, HATE the Renix engines. Dave, you've got a good point with the Scout axle- they're comparable in size to a Waggy, so i think theyll be Cherokee/MJ width. Jim, youve got a point with the 8.8. decisions, decisions.

all in the future because of cash flow, but i'm going to do what i can to get her running and moving- still haven't tackled the brake issue yet.

[edit] and since it's an Aisin-Warner 4-speed auto, its got 3.55 gears :jester: same as my XJ

something else to think about is the bolt pattern, the international is 5 on 5.5 so front and rear bolt pattern will not match. if you can find an axle that the bolt pattern matches your front axle it will be less confusing when buying wheels (if that matters).

no pictorial updates, but got the alternator fixed, she runs like a beast and can lay a one-legger on the road like nobody's business. still need to do some repaint/rust removal.
