The first thing I did with my truck was remove the DPF and then block the EGR.

I was not aware that the DEF had any performance hit.

Only the DPF did...

But DEF is always used alongside the DPF. FWONk them anyways :gunguy:

The DPF kills performance and sucks back fuel mileage.

DEF has no performance hit, and makes for cleaner emissions... Don't hate on the DEF... Especially since you live where you don't get any real issues with it...

DEF freezes

Availability is another problem. About freezing: there are some cold places in Brazil too, the winter in the hilly regions can be as cold as Canadian winter :ohnoes:

It's availiable at pretty much every fuel station here...

It'll catch up too.

Stop hatin' on something that's minor

I have a 300 Cummins in my new service truck. It runs pretty good. I have not had any problems yet but I know they are coming with all the emission BS. I get half the fuel mileage of my old truck. We are not gaining anything with less emissions if you use twice the fuel. IMO.

I use def. About 6 gallons every 1000 miles. Not all trucks use DEF. Cat used a system that used diesel fuel to send a flame down through the exhaust like a furnace. It sucked. I don't miss working on them.
