I'm in market for a set of shorty headers that will fit with a magnaflow 23453 part number. Looking for something unless than $400. Does anybody know on the patriot? Is there a reason why shorty headers dont work on a ext cab truck? Jegs dont have any shorty headers for a ext cab truck.

1997 chevy K1500 5.7L ext cab

IMHO Shorty headers have little to no gain over stock manifolds. They are a waste of money.

I would consider long tube but i already the magnaflow 23453 installed on my truck now. So long tube will have to wait til my muffler takes a poop now.

Get LT headers for a TBI engine and get the exhaust shop to modiy them.

IIRC all they need is the stock 02 location welded up and have an 02 bung welded into the collector of each header so that they are getting readings from all 4 cylinders on each side and not just from one cylinder.

You will also need need an EGR delete. Then use a scan tool to set the EGR values to "0" aswell as the rear 02's to '"0". These TBI headers can also be had for under $300 at Summit. Most exhaust shops should be able to make these modifications.

LT headers won't affect your muffler... The only thing is the cats will have to be moved... They'll change the sound a bit, though.

The magnaflow 23453 is a direct fit cat system that bolts to the stock manifolds.

Nevermind then

It's still easy enough to fab up some flanges on the headers

Shorties, as Carl stated, are a waste.
