Need Advice on Selling Truck

Since I'm not a normal car tradesman, I need some opinions. I have 3 people that are interested in my 1969 Rover that I'm asking 5500 for. None of them have asked me to come down from that price even after seeing/driving the truck. But, I don't have it in my driveway right now due to a never ending brake issue. The UPS man just dropped of the braided lines that will replace the 3 soft lines on it. Hopefully to finally end this saga. But anyways, how do I deal with all three wanting this truck for full price. All three telling me they will be here Saturday afternoon to drive it again, fixed or not?? For full asking price?????? Mom and Mark said to have them all come out at the same time and let them haggle it out, winner wins. I say the first one to show up owns it. But they tend to think the price may go up with more people looking. All peeps have/do own landies and know what they are about and what they are worth. In fact two of the guys have asked me why I'm not selling for more. But I come up with a fair price for buyer and seller, don't want to rape anyone, but yet don't want to sell to someone who will dump it in a junkyard in 6 months.

Please give me your opinions. We are only selling due to moving, if we could take everything at a reasonable cost to move, we would.

I would just let them all know that there are two others wanting the vehicle and if they want to come out at the same time, the one with the most cash gets it. That will determine who really wants it the most. You are not trying to mess anyone over, just that all are willing to pay what your asking so to settle it who ever wants it the most will have the cash on hand.

Let them know you want to be far and that is the only way to do it.

If was looking at it and knew there were two others, I would show up with the amount I was willing to go over the asking price and if I had the highest amount then I would get it. If not oh well.

I have been through this. You just have to be honest and tell them. The best offer will take the truck.

One guy that is driving 3 hours to see it (again) wanted the number of the other guys looking at it to out bid them. I wasn't down with that and when I talked with them only one was willing to talk with him. Then called me back wanting to bid in person, not over the phone. So they do know that others are also interested. Just a bit confused about what is professional and kosher with a private sale. I never have a problem raping a dealer for a new vehicle. :p

I'm with Scott. Tell them the situation and let them sort it out with cash.

On the motorcycle I sold, I had 4 people in the situation. I finally called each back and told them each to make an offer after explaining the situation. The first guy offered me $700 over asking, 2 of them were $500 over asking, the 4th walked away when I asked for the offer and told me to call him if the deals fell through.

I let them know I didn't like the situation either, but they had all called at the same time.

It worked out quick, and the guy showed up an hour later, cash in hand.

Have them play a round-robin paper/rock/scissor tourney.
