I'd still check for debris in the fins and do a flush.
The t-state opens at 180* so 30* above that at idle with A/C in warm conditions is normal to me.
Water doesn't even boil till it gets to 212 degrees. I think anything below that should be fine. Coolant has a much higher boiling point than water too.I would think that is normal for the most part with the age of the truck. You figure GM tests in the extreme heat I would think idling for hours on end to make sure they can handle the life out on the road in the hands of the public. I know they have heavy duty cooling systems but look at the law enforcement vehicles that idle all day in extreme heat.
I would check to make sure the radiatior is clean and air can flow through all of the surface area. Little bugs can clog it up over time.
I'm seriously thinking about adding E-fans to mine. Justin said he set up everything to turn them on when he did the tune. All I'd have to do is get the fan and buy the custom plug in harness from Blackbear and its pretty much plug and play. I've been thinking about this more and more because I notice my AC will blow "cool" when my truck is idling, but blow "cold" once I really get the truck moving.
