There really isn't that much of a difference when it comes to smooth bent pipes and mandrel bent pipes. It also sounds like a pretty big hassle for them to have to ship in pre-mandrel bent pipes, but as long as everything fits and it ends up looking the way you want it to, then it should be all good. I personally would want to have the shop mandrel bend the pipes so that they can make small adjustments when needed.

Yeah I agree with you there... do you think those prices seem high or is that what I should expect to pay?

Okay... got another quote from muffler shop... they ball parked it at $250 if I use my exiting tail pipes (cut back from the rusted part) and then weld on my tips.. Should I consider that or just get all new... The pipes don't look bad at all, just around the muffler.

If any of the pipe needs to be replaced, I'd probably replace the whole thing. Then, you're not having to jack with it again in 6 months or a year.. :dunno:

+1, pay a little more now and be done with it. In the long run it will be cheaper for you.

That's what i did. my pipe was REALLY dry-rotted and somehow it was still good enough to weld my mufflers on (so the guy said). since i was getting my mufflers put on i went ahead and got all new pipe.

Several years ago, I had a car with duals and it seemed like every year (it was probably really longer than that, but it didn't "seem" that way), I had it in the exhaust shop getting one side or the other replaced.. After doing that a few times, I decided "from now on, just do it all.." Unless, of course, something happens to a muffler (big rock or what-have-you) and something needs to be replaced sooner. But, if part of it is wearing out, I generally figure the rest of it will need it soon. Save a little on the labor and have it all done at once.
