Fricken crazy, he was out this evening wih his tuner doing some testing, and without really noticing the were going along and his boost gauge exploded in the truck! its a 60psi gauge,

they patched it up and tried again to see what happend and i guess it buried the needle, displaying 70psi from the scanner! but the fun stopped their as the allison jumped into limp mode as it slipped the 4-5 shift, after pulling over and getting the codes cleared they decided they would have to revert to the existing tune untill he gets new head studs in and a more built transmission! :jaw:

talk about pushing the limits! the duramax can take a beating! his more "reserved" tune runs 50 psi of boost. (which is still double stock) :rocker:

Wait, he doesnt have head studs yet and ran 70Psi? I'd be willing to bet he stretched the stock head bolts... blown head gaskets... here we come!

yes he hit it twice during tuning, it was kind of a mistake, but once they knew they could hit that they immeditely toned her down back to 50#`s. head studs are on order and a deal is in the works on a transmission. :ninja:

BTW robert my bro picked up a spare duramax about a month ago just in case, he is going ALL OUT!. :D2

I read in a diesel power mag about a 454 7.4L duramax build some company was doing for a sled pulling truck. You should have him sleeve and o-ring his spare motor.

i think his spare is the limp motor, he will stud it but not much else, if the one in the truck goes he can thow this one in temporarily whilst modifying/rapairing the LMM. :naughty:

his spare is an LBZ, and is slightly different.

Clancy anything over 40PSI on an LBZ/LMM is asking for trouble. I bet if you pulled one of the head bolts and measured it, you'd find a good amount of stretch. Just a word of caution.

Biggest difference (besides tuning) is the intake. LMM uses an intake butterfly where the LBZ does not. Most of the parts are interchangeable. and good luck.
