My Bro hit 70 POUNDS of Boost!!!

Fricken crazy, he was out this evening wih his tuner doing some testing, and without really noticing the were going along and his boost gauge exploded in the truck! its a 60psi gauge,

they patched it up and tried again to see what happend and i guess it buried the needle, displaying 70psi from the scanner! but the fun stopped their as the allison jumped into limp mode as it slipped the 4-5 shift, after pulling over and getting the codes cleared they decided they would have to revert to the existing tune untill he gets new head studs in and a more built transmission!

talk about pushing the limits! the duramax can take a beating! his more "reserved" tune runs 50 psi of boost. (which is still double stock)

Actually I do believe the Dmax runs about 32-36 psi of boost stock...

That truck is going to scoot when it's on 70 PSI reliably!

But its still a ton of boost... Speculation has it that a dmax runs 22 psi WOT based on OBDII readings but thats as high as you can read through the OBD II...

With a gauge you can read a ton more boost...


Thats still a ton of boost... Kinda freaky limping the tranny like that...


He should keep it close to 60 psi though... Much more he will be needing to upgrade his motor before he runs it that way consistently..

700 HP or less preferably of which it will only take about 480-550 to limp the allison...
