As cheap as oil is... relative to how expensive an engine is... it boggles my mind that SO MANY people still don't change the oil very often... :dunno:

I know the 4.7L and 318s in the late 90s Dodges had issues with sludge build up even with regular oil changes. Without regular oil changes though they sure do look nasty..lucky there wasnt more carnage.

Every once in a while I hear about someone who doesn't know they're supposed to change the oil....:wtf?:

318 didn't have many problems. 4.7 and 3.7 (same design) had and still have problems even with regular oil changes. It was a smart move ending production.

I think the 318 was like the 360... More carbon build up issues than oil sludge...

As long as you keep them out of the water :D2

I`ve torn down a 350 that never had regular changes, when I pulled the intake it was full to the top with crud, and the pan only had enough room to allow the crank to swing around, sure wish I took pictures! :eek:

There are also some people who change the oil more times, but use lower-grade oils :facepalm:
