Just remeasured and the dimensions I used back then were 65" long by 17" high, by 8" wide.... and I just ran those figures through my UPS account and came up with a cost of over $90 to ship cross country UPS Ground. Something isn't right here because when I first did this, back then, it came out under $20.00

Hell, I had a dang 25' flagpole shipped to me (motor freight) from Ohio a few years back, and that only cost me $100

I'm going to have to figure out what exactly I did back then that resulted in those other numbers. I wish I still had all my emails and records from back then but I lost 15 years of emails to a hard drive failure (and backup drive failure at the same time - it was a sucky week) a couple months ago.

However, I'm still seeing similar grilles (composite headlamps instead of sealed beams) being sold new by dealers and others on ebay in the $60-$80 range, with shipping included, so how are they doing it?

Heck, here's one I'll probably order, since it's the correct grille for my truck, from a name brand company, with 18 month warranty, for $62.16 shipped, which is about $55.00 less than what you folks want with shipping. Heck, it's less than what you want just for the shipping alone.

15986073 GM1200356 Grille Assembly New Suburban Sierra Pickup Dark Gray GMC | eBay

How can they sell it, and ship it, and still make a profit, at prices less than what you folks are quoting for just shipping? :dunno:

I'm not trying to be a PITA, but I'm not seeing any good reason to buy from Rock Auto in this particular case, and you folks might want to take a closer look at that to see how you're being so seriously undersold.

Thank you for your feedback. As you've made note of, the shipping we are charging is reasonable (based on the dimensions and weight of the part), and is less than the quote you are receiving via your UPS account. We are passing our shipping account savings onto the customer as we state we do! Shipping is never free and we do our best to ensure the prices you find at RockAuto are reliably low every day.

We hope you will continue to check back with RockAuto regarding your future auto parts needs.

Thank you,

As mentioned in my previous post we work hard to offer reliably low prices to our customers every day. We get live quotes from our carriers and charge you what we are being charged by our shippers. We can't offer free shipping as the carriers do not work for free.

Thank you,

As I stated previously, and as you quoted me as saying, I know there's no such thing as "Free Shipping", that things don't magically get from Point A to Point B at no cost. The cost gets passed on to the consumer, one way or another. I acknowledge this.

You say that you "work hard to offer reliably low prices", so how is it that a company in your home state can undercut you so badly on this particular part, including shipping? If you look at the listing I provided it lists the exact same part you're selling, same part number and everything, from an OEM supplier. Yes, their part costs about $20.00 more than yours, but shipping is included in their price, not in yours. The total cost from them is about $55.00 less than the same part from you.

Look, I want to buy from Rock Auto. I've bought other things from Rock Auto. I want to support this forum, by making purchases from their sponsors. But I also want to pay fair and reasonable prices (note that I said reasonable, not bargain basement), and when there's a $55.00 difference in the cost of the same exact part from two different suppliers located in the same area, I'd be pretty dumb to buy the higher priced part, wouldn't I? I'm not asking for anything out of line or unreasonable here, just that you examine the shipping costs on this item to determine why it seems to be so overpriced, that's all.

I guess that's the only answer I'm getting. Sorry TMC, I tried. I really wanted to do business with this sponsor and help support the site, but $55.00 extra for the same part from the same manufacturer is just too much.

I placed an order through Rock Auto Monday night. Ordered a blend door actuator for a Ford Flex and an AC Delco window regulator for a Chevy Silverado. Items shipped from separate locations and I clicked on the cheapest shipping methods for both.
One item went USPS priority and the other went FedEx. One item from each coast and all my parts arrived by Saturday morning.
No complaints here and I will definitely order again when I need parts, and NO I didn't use the discount code for the forum or any other discount. Thanks Rock Auto.

Just bought the evap canister for my pickup, cheaper and quicker from RockAuto than anywhere else I think. I'm happy. :D Oh and with the board discount shipping added it came to the same as amazon without shipping!
