4x4 went inop last week. (I've been stuck more in the last 4 weeks than a herion addict at a flop house) Discovered it as I was pulling a friend's car out. Car came out fine, but I ended up backed up in a berm and could not get out. It should have been easy to get out. Embarassingly enough I had to have my buddy pull me out with his Pathfinder only to get promptly stuck again. Got under their the next day and rattled around, tested it on my buddy's hill and it was working fine. Wife calls, she is stuck in our driveway. She shouldn't have gotten stuck at that part of the driveway. 4x is out again.

I may be weird, but I love my dealer (30 years ago that would have meant something different). The service dept is top-notch. I had the rig in last year for the 4x4 and they replaced just about everything.

Well it turns out the hubs went out again and the end result is that my differential case is cracked and it also took out a bunch of other stuff with it, gears etc...

Bad part is, the part is on backorder nationally with no ETA on replenishment. There is 1 at a dealer in PA and they are trying to get it for me. The best part is that even though my warrenty expired in Nov, they are fully covering it with no hassle at all. Gave me a loaner no charge.

Dealer just called and the place in PA ordered it for customer so I am out of luck. Going to be interesting going up my road as it is iced like a 3/4 mile Toboggan run. :ohnoes: I am up to 1000lbs in the bed and that made a huge difference in going up the hill.

Sigh... I hope the part supplier is better at filling backorders than some I've dealt with. It will probably be May by the time I get it fixed with my luck :fingersx:

That sucks. You're pretty lucky they'll cover it. 1,000lbs is a lot in the bed!

I just called our local dealer(Power Ford,Valencia) and they don't have one. They don't list a complete diff. You get the housing then install the parts. The housing alone is $695.79 They also list three different ratios for that diff.... 4:10,3:73 & 3:55 He also said that diff is on national back order :( just like your dealer said. What about a real low mileage used one? Might be your only choice if you want it done soon :dunno:

BTW the P/N is 6L3Z3010AA(according to The Ford parts guy) and it fits Aug '05-Aug '08 trucks
