Also are you using the correct plastigauge?

Spec is 0.0008-0.0021 in. for production and 0.0008-0.0025 in. for service.

Looks to me that you're not reading the plastigauge correctly. For instance, for a 0.002 reading the squashed portion of the plastigauge should fit completely inside the red section of the 0.002 area. The 0.003 reading should fit completely inside the white portion of the paper gauge.

On the package of plastigauge it should have a working clearance printed on it, do you have that handy?

I used the wrong one , i should use the green plastigauge, unfortunetly i dont have it!
orderd it from summit and they sent me the wrong size

guess i should count on my luck

btw rotating assembly is in ,pistons, rods ,crank spin smoothly , cam is also in, oil pump is in

will torque the connecting rod bolts tomorow, install lifters ,heads,oil pan , and take some pics ,

hopefully, well tray to drop the motor tomorow and turn the engine

Well chances are you will get lucky. I know guys that have been building engines for years and have been lucky most of the time. :fingersx:

I already have OBX headers on the 5.3 will reuse them of course

after we mounted the motor under the hood , and I was cleaning the intake manifold has a hole 2"x3"

you can see it just behind the throttle on the drivers side

ITS ALIVE :rocker:

started the truck yestrday ,it was in a coma for 6 weeks !!

drives good just dies when slowing down under 12-15mph to turn or stop at a light.

as for any thing else i noticed som good torque gains on idle to 3000rpm with part throttle ,cant step on it just yet , breaking in the new bearings/piston rings

every thing else is great

will tray to post some pics
