302 engines are simple to work on. If you are gonna change the wires I recommend FRPP 9 mm wires. I have them on my bronco. Get autolites or motorcraft for plugs, these engines like these better than any other kind of plug. Avoid champion plugs like the plague! No platinum either. Get a good cap and rotor like msd or accel with copper terminals. Check your coil to make sure the wires arent exposed and causing a short. Get new vacuum lines cuz I'm sure you need them by now. If its still got all the smog equipment I know its a pain to fix all the leaks but its not impossible. Are you running a 2 barrel or a 4 barrel carb?

I miss working on the 289 in my mustang. I kick myself every day for having sold that car.

I've ran Motorcraft Platinum plugs since I've had it, wouldn't run anything else! I'm running the factory 2 barrel right now. I'd love to put a 4 barrel on but that will come with the rebuild. I'm almost positive I still have the emissions crap on there, minus the cats. I would love to get rid of it lol.

I'm also looking for a good set of used tires. looking at going down a size or two in overall diameter to lower it just a little bit.

Everything as long as you plug up the vacuum leaks. If you go with a 4 barrel intake and carb it will be much easier to eliminate all the smog stuff.

I love the look. Iffy about the exhaust tips though. Could someone PS the front end grey to match the truck?
