I'm so happy with the way this 85 buffed out, that I am scratching my plans to get it painted anytime soon. Not that it would have happened soon anyway.
The truck had some new paint and clear on the drivers fender and door, and they replaced the molding on that side. It looks super nice!
I was thinking, the truck (to me) looks beautiful as is, even with the thin areas where you can see the black basecoat under the red. Nice patina. I am going to shine up all the aluminum trim I can, and was wondering...
Why not replace all the door/bed molding to match the drivers side cab?
I wouldnt worry about it, but the trim I speak of seemed to be a chrome cladded rubber type molding, and all the "chrome" has since wore off, leaving it dull and yellowed.
My goal with this truck is simple. ORIGINALITY. It is an unmolested fully functional C20. (3/4 ton).....
Passenger side, faded dull trim.
Drivers side new trim on door and fender
Heres a pic of the drivers side before I buffed the truck. See the difference in new to old trim?
Money is not a factor. I dont know how much this stuff costs yet but it doesnt matter. If, one day I decided to do a restoration on paint, I'd either try to re-use the stuff or buy new again.
Opinions?
