If they HAVE to let off in the corners, you can give them more throttle response on the straight-aways.
My thought is to make the tires narrower. Same result, make them get off the gas and onto the brakes once in a while.

If you cut the horsepower, they'll still be in the same pack, just going 190 instead of 200.

Skip ahead to about 25 minutes and watch a few laps. The cars were not running in packs without plates. Reduce the horsepower, get rid of some of the aerodynamic downforce, give them throttle response to pull away from each other and they WILL spread out.

Personally I think it'd be great for some engine and car modifications that would kill the restrictor plates and make the drivers drive. I'm sure the old timey "No replacement for displacement" folks are besides themselves though.

Here's an idea...make a track where you have to turn right once in awhile.

I watched 1 race this year, Daytona. I've said it before, I did the math, going 80 in my truck from when they first started I would have finished before they finally did, because I'm not too much of a putz to drive in the rain. Only would have taken me one pitstop too. :dunno:

I think Nascar should look more like this:

They had a tire test at Michigan International Speedway this week. Of the drivers I saw who reported their top speeds, Jr claimed a hair over 215 and Bowyer claimed 217. I can't imagine that NASCAR won't be interfering "soon" with aero package updates, hp restrictions, or something, with the cars hitting those speeds..

Those speeds tend to scare the company big shots.
