Texas Jim
Texas..It's a Whole 'nuther Country
I know what yer talkin about Jim. It was mainly on mid 90's cars. You would close the trunk, then it would latch but still be "open" about an inch or 2. Then a motor would lower the trunk lid the rest of the way down. They came on some of the higher end olds and buicks too, like the 98 and Park Avenue. I tried to convert one into my cutlass I had. It seemed too much of a pain since the pulldown part was mounted into the catch and the floor of the trunk. I dont think that would work in my burban, everything would have to be built into the latch since there is no room on the floor to mount a new catch.
I like the idea of a power liftgate.
Isn't your latch...the part on the liftgate itself...right at the very bottom?
If it is...it may be possible to mount the power pulldown thingy..."UNDER" your floor and only the end of it would be sticking out to catch your latch and pull it tightly closed.
I would need to look at it and get some ideas.
If you don't already have it done by the meet on the 24th...I would be glad to look at it.
I have done some pretty good redneck engineering in my day.
