If anyone can spot the problem in that engine bay picture you are one bad ass mo fo.

The upper radiator hose is not on the thermostat housing... :)
And it kinda looks like the vacuum advance isn't hooked up on the distributor...:dunno:

I was looking at this last night,I saw the same things.I wonder if that one really long hose is going to the carb from the vac. advance :dunno:

Shouldn't the oil filler cap be on the other side?

That's thinking with your dipstick, Gary!
And my dipstick still works :jester::lol:

The thing you see on the thermostat is actually a sensor with the prongs broken off. I ran a super long vacuum hose to the vacuum advance for some reason, it pretty much loops around that whole side of the engine compartment.

The problem I was talking about is no PCV valve, that big rubber plug in the middle of the carbs base plate is supposed to be connected to the PCV valve. I have been working on my own shit since age 14 and consider myself decent at auto repairs but this was one of the dumbest things I have done yet.

I have been trying to diagnose a dead spot in the engines power band since I started driving the truck. I have rebuilt carbs, replaced plugs and wires, replaced the distributor and most recently went all out with a new edelbrock intake manifold with a phenolic carb spacer. 100% of the problem was not having a PCV valve hooked up to the carb and it was honestly free to fix since I found a new one in its box in my dads inventory of parts.

For 2 years now I have been chasing a problem that turned out to be a pcv valve and a little bit of hose.

Re: Irishmans 85 K1500

Hey guys, not posting much lately... I guess I just dont like this forum as much:loser:

Just kidding, I have been out of town down in New Mexico working and just recently got back to my place in Reno. I drove the 85 over 1200 miles down there, drove it around every day and drove that bitch right back up here.

First thing, my wife mentioned she is tired of the tiger stripe primer job so we got a shitload of primer and got after it.

I experimented with some pinstriping I found at Orileys.

I did not like how eye catching it was so removed it, on that not it was alot of fun to install.

We have a summit racing distribution warehouse that doubles as a retail store, its kinda like toys-r-us but for adults. They had a scratch and dent sale so my wife and I went to check it out and I scored this.....

I got it for half price, very good deal. Its a deal system with side swept exits behind the rear axle, I had no idea when I got it! I just read the description and figured it would fit so my wife stood by it to protect it from the other scavengers.

You made it over too??? Better not forget where you came from Dawg or I'll give you an infraction.
It's funny seeing the condensed version of your truck evolving since I seen the thread that ran for over a year with all your headaches and trials. Remember you were wanting to get rid of it??? If you were closer, I'd have owned that truck by now. At least you listened and stayed with it. What's even funnier, your wife bitching about it, calling it a money pit, blah blah blah. Now you get it running good and looking decent and she wants to drive it. I think you need to her a square too. Just not yet though. She does alot of the work on your truck. If she had her own she wouldn't be working on yours anymore, so get yours done first.

Does Summit by any chance have another set of that exhaust for 85 K1500? I need a set like that for my 85 K1500. You scored on that. You can't buy that much straight pipe for $60, let alone pre bent pieces in a kit. Mega score there.
