Help A dodge guy out here what does gmt400,800,900 mean? I'm assuming something to do with the years or different generations

Correct. A GMT-400 is a GM fullsize pickup from 1988-1998. GMT-800 is from 1999-2007 1/2 (you can have both new and old body style trucks in 2007. They made the switch half way through the year.) GMT-900 is 2007-Present.

AKA:
88-98 = GMT-400 = OBS
99-07 1/2 = GMT-800 = NBS
07+ = GMT-900 = NNBS

Just in case. BUT some guys prefer not calling them by the OBS/NBS/NNBS since it just gets confusing and it doesn't work all that well.

In addition, the GMT-400 3/4 and 1 ton trucks continued until 00. I've seen GMT-400 '00 3/4 ton trucks for sale before.

What's wrong CJ, don't like the really bad acronyms? Although, sometimes OBS is a lot quicker than GMT-400.

Depends on your needs. I had my 99 RCSB in college and that was the best decision I ever made. "I'd like to drive guys, but I only can hold 1 or 2 more . . . "

But then again, just 2 weeks ago, I hauled 2000 lbs of fence posts AND 4 people in my Crew Cab. If you have the back seat, you'll use it!

I'd say go ahead with the extended cab then you have nothing to regret in your later years with the truck regardless if you use it or not you have it

I rarely have more than one passenger with me and usually the ones that get stuck in back are ones I rather not have with me anyways.
