My current enclosed trailer is 20'X8.5'X8 with 3500lb axles. Trailer weighs about 3200lbs by itself. Since we bought it in 2008, I've put new axles on it and dozens of tires. It's a great trailer but it often rides over loaded.
I am currently considering a V nose trailer with thoughts that it may be a little bit better on fuel mileage with less wind restriction. Also it might be a foot shorter in height. Looking at trailers that are 22'X8.5X7. I want to get a trailer with 5200lb axles. As far as weight difference, the 24' trailer weighs about 3600lb, dry. I would have to guess that the 22' might weigh a 100-200lbs less.
Respectively, I think the weight difference between the current trailer and the new candidate would be pretty close. I know with properly weight axles and tires we might even save some rubber!
