I lost reverse in my 727, any ideas?

My 72 D200 has no reverse and before I start tearing the transmission out are there any common issues that may have occurred? There was no warning and I did not hear anything that I should not have. I checked the linkage and as far as I can tell it looks fine. The fluid level also looks fine. What else should I look for?

Never mind. I dropped the pan and found half dollar sized steel chunks.

Yeah, I do not need a lot of experiance with a 727 to know that is not right. Now for the tear down...

Blah.. Yes.. The known 727... I have one in my half ton dodge... It shifts so slow.. slips in reverse like a mofo... lol 3 one i have put in the truck.. and they all are about the same... I use mine only for off roading..It shifts great when its matted to the floor... it just slips into gear like you are driving a manual...lol never looses any rpm... Goog luck

I was planning on converting it to a newer OD trans anyway. Just not this soon.
