This is my first newer Ranger, I am usually into the first and second Gens. SO when my 2000 Ranger had issues I am not knowledgeable in their quirks. This truck has a 3.0 with a five speed. When in neutral and idling the RPMs rev up past 2000. What could cause this and what am I looking at to repair it?

I know this one... It's a sensor.. I can't remember what it's called. Honda civics have this problem often.

Could be TPS now that I think about it.

With out a scan tool the only thing I can figure is to just change it and see what happens.

My brothers 93 gmc 1500 did this. Scan tool revealed TPS at 100% all the time.
