How to replace the GMT800 Intermediate Steering Shaft (ISS)

I would guess replace the ISS first, and if the noise continues then replace the collar...my ISS will be here Tuesday, and I should be able to complete the work Saturday.

The usual way it is diagnosed is, after replacing the ISS, you still have the noise. Then it's probably the plastic bearing. 90% of the time it's the ISS

Well i got to drive my father in laws truck today. The knocking is definitely in the steering wheel. He suggested replacing both the bearing and shaft so that it wouldn't be an issue.
