But to answer your original question, you lose ALL warning chimes when you swap to an aftermarket unit without buying the proper harness to retain the chime functions.
On the GMT900 trucks, the turn signal chimes thru the door speaker, you would lose that too. Low fuel chime, keys left in ignition chime, headlights left on chime, etc. You wil also lose Onstar function (if you even still subscribe to Onstar
).

They can all be retained, but it is a pain in the ass with the adapters.
The one reason never went for that Advent, they had most of the functions, but not even the bluetooth integrated with the factory mic. I also have rear seat entertainment, and it didn't have that funtion at the time, either.
Mine is Bose, so it is even more complex. Just going to the aftermarket amps made me get the adapters, etc to retain chimes.
I am making one last crack at it this spring, when I add the Rockford Fosgate 360 that I bought a year ago
and a seperate amp for my sub in place of the 5 channel PDX.
If I can't get everything perfectly the way I want it, I am going aftermarket. It is great sounding, but there are a couple of little quirks that I don't like.

Correct Scott. I was saying that you lose all those chimes if you do NOT use the proper integration harness and just hardwire your aftermarket stereo in. But by using the proper harness, all the chimes can be retained. And that harness isnt exactly cheap. The cheapest I have seen it was about 75-100 bucks. Thats expensive compared to the $7 harness for my 2001.

Crutchfield has the harness for 69 bucks (plus a relay?) when you buy a HU from them. I guess that's not too terrible... plus I could run a small sub/amp combo as well.
Not criticizing, brutha! The whole thing has just been an expensive pain in the ass.

I guess you wont find it any cheaper than that. But they make up for it on the cost of their headunits.
But then again their customer service and tech support is top notch.

Yeah. Crutchfield is not the cheapest. They do include the kit and wiring for free though plus free shipping and no tax. Overall they are still a little higher still.
