Yeah we may have talked about it before... I told him that I would buy it if it were the 7.3.. He said that he would not be selling it if it was...

Do you want his truck for 10-12k?

I think he will keep it otherwise.

Six would work great but it is an extended cab. I think you would be better off with a crew cab. All the work done on 6 is a ton of cash and the 6.5 turbo diesels are a great engine. Not a Dmax but good non the less.

#4, lowest miles, and the Vortec 454 was a very strong engine. The 6.5 is an ok motor, but has lots of injector pump issues, and a couple I have been around (work trucks) had electronic throttle control issues which would send them into a limp mode any time it threw a fault. Parts are also way more expensive for a diesel, and at least here fuel is $.50 + more per gallon (which is more than can be offset by the marginally better fuel mileage).

Do you really need a 4x4 or is it just something you would like to have just because? I don't know what you do, assuming some sort of landscaping with the sod and the tractors. Even here in snow country all of our work trucks are 2wd and they get by alright. Less parts to worry about going bad on a 2wd if the 4x4 isn't something you ever use. I voted #1 on the basis that 4x4 is rarely needed on a work truck but if it's something you actually need I vote #4.

The owner of #1 has not written me back but 4wd is something that I use often on job sites after it rains. Especially on new installs. I could live without it but I have always used 4wd more here then when I lived in the north.
