Mine is wired via the invisacord. It works great and the detector is right up next to the rear view mirror.

So you like the invisicord? I might consider getting one of those. They are like $25 I think. How hard was it to install ?

Yep, like it and it was easy to install. I recommend it. I found that you can make your own on line, can't find the web page but if you have access to a phone jack crimper then your in like flin!!!

radar detectors are illegal in va for current residents or out of state residents.

Yep, got nabbed one late night trip on my way through VA to home in Pa. Matter of fact got pulled off I-81 at the exit just north of Winchester Va. The exit to go over to 522 N. He saw the red light while he followed behing me. I forgot to cover it as I always did in the past. It was a nice fine, they didn't take it away from me at least.

only radar jammers are illegal not detectors

VA banned detectors recently too, if I remember right.

Radar detectors are illegal in Va. and Washington DC.

"Radar detectors are banned in Virginia.
Radar detectors and radar jammers are illegal in the District of Columbia.
Radar jammers are illegal in Oklahoma, but radar detectors are legal.
In New York, radar detectors are illegal for commercial vehicles over 18,000lbs.
In IIlinois, radar detectors are only regulated in commercial vehicles."

Yeah I know every time I travel north as soon as I get close to the border I put it in my Glovebox. Not taking a chance. I hear the fines are $$$

Carolinaboy, you will still get a fine with it your glove box. It has to be out of reach like in a trunk or somewhere in the back.
