Nice setup. The original system sure was rusty. You guys up North have to worry about that a lot.

Why buy new when you can restore?
The salt doesn't help, but its the cold weather that kills aluminized steel. The hot exhaust inside the pipe cools really fast causing condensation to occur very quickly. Short, stop-and-start trips just kill the pipes....let alone the engine too.

I really need to get a new video. I've put on 8k miles since this was done....and I know the sound has changed.
What originally made me get this done was towing a car from Milwaukee to La Crosse at 55mph in 3rd gear and turning around 2500rpm. The passenger side tail pipe had rusted off right after the muffler and the interior drone was horrible. I said enough was enough and did it the right way. Why does doing things the right way always have to be the expensive way?

Look at it this way...
You did it RIGHT..and now you won't have to go thru the hassle and expense of doing it "AGAIN" in a couple of years.
Doing it "RIGHT" ... if at all possible, is the only way to go.

You did it RIGHT..and now you won't have to go thru the hassle and expense of doing it "AGAIN" in a couple of years.
Doing it "RIGHT" ... if at all possible, is the only way to go.
.I looked at it this way: I could spend a boat-load once and be done, or have to have exhaust done every 5yrs or so for at least $400 a time. The hardest part of going that route would be finding kits that I liked with the layout I wanted. I couldn't find any kits that used 2 mufflers and had exits at 45* out both sides. Everyone either wants duals straight out the back (which to me just looks like it was slapped together quickly) or a single exit in the stock location (90* behind the pass. tire). So my route gave me everything I wanted and will save money in the long run....at least I hope.
