How many cats come stock on these trucks? Do you only need 2 to make it legal?

I've been thinking of getting everything plus headers before I install so that I can save a bit of money.
I believe the 5.7L came with 2 cats. I think the 5.0L came with 1, but I've never seen one.

Yes, definitely get the headers in first. That way you'll have your starting point for the rest of the system. With the Tri-Y headers, you can't use direct bolt-on parts that you could use with shorty headers.

The price of the Thorley's makes me want to cry. I guess if I went headers back I would only have to do it once instead of getting a cat back now and adding new pipes to old corroded pipes haha. Will these pasesetters work fine?

Summit isn't the place to get The Thorley's!

Here's the cheapest place. After using promo code DT, they are $632.
Here's the link to them on the Doug Thorley site. They want $955!!

Yeah I saw them on Doug Thorley's website, that is quite the price for them. Is ceramic coated better than stainless headers?

To my understanding, stainless radiates heat A LOT so the engine bay would be hotter. Ceramic keeps the heat in the pipes much better keeping the engine bay cooler. At least that's my understanding.

Ok, good to know. I've heard that LT's give better gains but are shorties still better versus the stock manifolds? Reason I say this is that I can't justify spending $500+ on a set of LT's when shorties can be had for $150.
