Oh forgot to mention both units had 13.74 volts going to the coil. 
I know what the problem is, I don't know why I didn't see it the first time.
You are not running AMSOIL in them.

Turn off the AFM.

If the bending of the tab didn't work, it's not the voltage going INto the coil that's the issue...

I'd go back to OEM and see if it corrects the problem.

I'm just a firm believer in OE, unless the engine has been built for performance.
