Fuel rail removal?

Clancy is gonna be out of town until Friday, so hopefully somebody else can help here.

Well I will have saturday to work on it before I leave again to go back to school and work. I feel kind of bad for bugging Clancy so much with my project, but he is the only one I know with a whippled 454 to help me out! I do know there have been many that have replaced just injectors on these motors with LS1 injectors and such so someone has to know how to get this stupid rail off!

Reading on Google, it says that there are 5 bolts holding the rail in place. You say you removed two... Possible that there are bolts you are not seeing?

Well I got the two that were obvious at first, then a third one up front, and I can see two more in the back that don't look like they are really connected, but the front of the rail is completely unbolted and the whole rail still won't budge. Is it because all 8 of the injectors are suctioned into the lower manifold by the o-ring seals? The manual says the rail comes out with the injectors on it but I dont see how thats possible because the injectors are pointed down in opposite 45 degree angles so if I pulled straight up on the rail the injectors would be pulled up against the top of the manifold and meet resistance.

The O rings can really be stuck... especially on an engine with some miles. I've seen them have to be popped out with a large flat blade screwdriver and a block. Might try prying gently on one of the front ones.

I can try that next. Its hard to see how the rail would come out nicely because the two banks of injectors come together in an upside down V and the rail is the base of the V so for everything to come out the injectors would have to bend in on their mounts to come out. Just a strange way to set them up.

That part doesn't worry me. The go into a hole that is cushioned by a rubber seal / O ring. They can move quite a bit side to side.

One other thing, if the fuel system pressure is relieved then no fuel will come out of the schraeder relief valve that is used to attach a pressure gauge correct? I pushed down on the little pin and nothing came out. Im just wondering if im going to have a ton of fuel come flowing out when I undo the lines going into the rail because Im an idiot and forgot to pull the pump relay before I removed both the batteries from the truck to drain it and relieve pressure.

If the shrader valve on the fuel rail doesn't spray when depressed, you should have no fuel pressure on the lines.
