My dad had a mid 90s Nissan Excab. That thing was bulletproof for the 200K he put on it. It went to Mexico after that (where all Texas Nissans go for their final years)

Y'all say mid 90's Nissan's, do you mean the Nissan Hardbodies??? If so, those and the mid 80's - mid 90's Toyota's were also bullet proof. Toyota and that R22 engine was closest I've seen to bullet proof.

Yip. The Frontier didn't come out until 1998. I also had a 98 Frontier 4X4 Excab. It was a great little truck.

I almost bought a brand new 98 Frontier extra cab, but ended up with a 98 Mazda B2500.

I actually preferred the Toyotas and Nissans over the Ranger most of the time back then. They were better looking trucks in my opinion.

It's my opinion that Ford is going to stop selling them because they don't sell very many of them. I have had few of them and except for the 80's with teh 2.8 and 2.9 garbage engines, the 3.8 and 4.0 trucks can not be killed......hence they don't sell very many of them. I had an 93 that I abused, it was abused before I bought it and it's stillbeing abused today and has some 400,000 miles on it.

Looks like they may finally have some "official" pictures of the new Ranger. I found this on the Automotive News website :

Reflecting the diverse uses of compact pickups around the world, Ford said the Ranger line will offer everything from a basic work vehicle, with interiors that can be hosed out, to models such as the yet-to-be-revealed Ranger Limited and Ranger Wildtrak. Four body styles will be available.
