Is there anything on the other side of the firewall around that location? what if I drill a hole a inch or so somewhere around that location and retain the clip for that wire loom will I drill into something on the other side?

I don't recall right now and that truck is home now so I can't go out and look. Just eyeball it from both sides and use your best judgement.

I just looked at the Tahoe. As far as I can see, you should be fine. Just go take a look at yours

Great shots Jarrod, I will remember this one when I mod the 'hoe

Just run wires to the fusebox on the left side of the dash. That is how I wired the CB in both my '99 and '07.

Yep or the fuse block under the dash, in the floorboard, left side.

I usually take a thin knife a make a small slit in the side of the big grommet (the one with the arrow on it)
being careful to not cut any existing wires. I just go along the side of them. I only do this if I am running no more than three 18guage wires when I install an alarm siren and a hood pin switch. If its more wires than that or if I am running a power wire for an amplifier, I will drill a hole and add a grommet just like Jarrod did.

I can't seem to find anywhere get thru, I can't even get a drill into that area because of all the stuff in the way brake booster etc...
any more ideas ?

That is the throttle position module, just unbolt it and unplug it. Move it out of the way and drill, that's what I did. It's removed in the picture I posted for clarity.
